At Mindful Yoga Collective, we are committed to providing our students with an environment where they can thrive and learn. We are a yoga and meditation studio in Salt Lake City, Utah, dedicated to passing on the ancient tradition of yoga to people of all skill levels. Mindful Yoga Collective promotes quiet, non-competitive classes so students can learn at their own speed, and replenish their own bodies and souls.
Mindful Yoga Collective opened in 2013. We are a group of longtime teachers with an average of 25 years of teaching experience. We are more than an exercise class; we offer a space where meditation and growth through yoga is possible for veterans and beginners alike. Our studio is a newly remodeled and sustainable space, built with non-toxic, green materials. We’re happy to share the building and our healing philosophy with our friends at Great Basin Chiropractic.

Yoga practice is most beneficial to the whole person when attention, intention, and conscious action are present in the moment. The Alexander Technique is a process of awareness and self-inquiry that develops conscious choice in order to direct movement to be easier, less forced, lighter, and more coordinated. Improved physical and mental balance results from the experience of the “whole self” working together. Effort is shared throughout the body. Thoughts direct movement via accurate sensing and response.

Join me for a six-week meditation series on Yoga’s qualities of the heart, also known as the brahma viharas (divine abodes) or “four immeasurables.” Each week the class will focus on one of these qualities: metta (lovingkindness), compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity. I spent nine days this summer focused entirely on this practice and learned some new insights that I’m excited to share.
Each class will begin with a short introduction to each quality. Then we will practice in sitting meditation. Over 27 years of practice, I’ve found that cultivating these qualities through meditation has helped me develop a deeper sense of appreciation, gratitude and connection that helps me move through all the experiences of my life with greater care and grace.
